Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.
The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.
Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five points to take the lead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
He rescued four early break points in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
