In a unexpected crossover event that defies traditional forecasts, the game developer has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Disclosed

According to the formal statement, "An unusual confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of banned ceremonies and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The storyline presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden cult.

The questline centers on "peculiar trials and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Bonus Material

Players who finish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Addition

This patch also introduces the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime properties. The series formerly showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
